After the Eagles gave up 169 rushing yards last week in a 17-12 loss to the Redskins,Philadelphia defensive coordinator Sean McDermott is making a lineup change.

Vick suffered a rib cartilage injury in last week's 17-12 loss to the Washington Redskins when he was sandwiched by Redskins defensive backs Kareem Moore and DeAngelo Hall at the tail end of a 23-yard run. Kolb replaced him and completed 22 of 35 passes in the defeat. But 16 of those 22 completions were to running backs as he checked down regularly against the Cover-2 look the Redskins were giving him.

29th regular-season meeting. 49ers lead series, 16-11-1.30th The Eagles have won the last four meetings, including a 27-13 victory in Philadelphia last season in Week 15.

The 49ers may have to make yet another switch at punt returner after Kyle Williams sprained the middle finger on his right hand while catching a punt in practice Wednesday. Williams is wearing a splint, and he said he would not practice Thursday or Friday.

That might mean that Ted Ginn, recently recovered from a sprained MCL, would handle both punt and kickoff returns against the Eagles. Offensive coordinator Mike Johnson also said that Ginn would not see a lot of action on offense and that he would split time with Dominique Zeigler as the No. 3 receiver.

29th regular-season meeting. 49ers lead series 16-11-1, but the Eagles have won the last four meetings in convincing fashion. The last time the two teams met at Candlestick Park, in 2008, the Eagles won 40-26.
